Clarke's Listening Walk at the Zoo and 5K Run “Susan and Jack Holender exemplify an exceptional spirit of philanthropy, volunteerism and community engagement. Please accept our deepest gratitude to Susan & Jack for your sponsorship of Clarke‘s first ever Listening Walk at the Zoo. Your support enabled us to successfully accommodate an eye-popping 1,000 event registrants and create a fun-filled, sun-dappled day that was enjoyable and educational for young and not-quite-so-young alike. Your contribution to the Listening Walk was meaningful and impactful, and we truly could not have created an event of this magnitude without your assistance.  You helped spread the message to thousands of Philadelphia Zoo patrons that children who are deaf or hard of hearing can learn to listen and talk, and you helped raise awareness for Clarke, and, for that, we are so grateful. Please know how thankful we are for your support of the Listening Walk and of the Clarke community.”

Wills Eye Hospital “The Susan and Jack Holender Children’s Fund takes a hands-on approach to its philanthropy and participated in Give Kids Sight Day sponsored by Wills Eye Hospital and local organizations. Each year as many as 14,000 school age children in Philadelphia fail their vision exams and do not receive the follow-up care they need. With 70% to 80% of learning tied to vision, our Give Kids Sight Day is an important opportunity to address the needs of as many as 1,000 children all on one day. We’re grateful to Susan and Jack for helping us deliver these important vision services to children in Philadelphia.”
— Joseph P. Bilson, Chief Executive Officer, Wills Eye Hospital
“Over the past few months, I have had the pleasure of communicating with Jack Holender and familiarizing myself with the Susan and Jack Holender Children’s Fund to lend my support and my professional input. As a clinician specializing in dysphagia therapy and augmentative communication systems, I have worked with many children at the end of their lives, and understand the challenges children and their families face when dealing with life-ending conditions. This compassion and the dedication to providing the optimal support to children and their families at this difficult time, was quite apparent in our discussions. The Holenders are truly crusaders for this cause and do so with a full heart and a wise mind. I am very pleased to be associated with the Susan and Jack Holender Children’s Fund and look forward to serving in which ever capacity is needed.”
