At The Susan & Jack Holender Children’s Fund, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. Our commitment to the NVLD Project is a testament to this belief.
The NVLD Project is dedicated to raising awareness, building support, and creating helpful solutions for children, adolescents, and adults with Non-Verbal Learning Disability through a variety of programs, including educational workshops, research, and community outreach.
What is NLVD?
Nonverbal Learning Disability (NVLD) is a neurological condition that affects an individual’s ability to interpret nonverbal cues, such as facial expressions, body language, and spatial awareness.
While NVLD is less widely recognized than other learning disabilities, its impact on those who live with it is profound. Children with NVLD often face challenges in social interactions, academic performance, and daily tasks that require visual-spatial reasoning. Despite these challenges, individuals with NVLD usually possess solid verbal skills and remarkable potential that, with the proper support, can be fully realized.
In addition to dedicating resources from our fund to support the NVLD Project’s initiatives, we will be funding campaigns to increase public understanding of NVLD. This work is vital in a world where NVLD is often misunderstood or overlooked, leaving many children and their families without the support they need. Our goal is to ensure that more families, educators, and healthcare providers know about the condition and how to assist those affected.
